AR is mad that he has to share PM with that cheerful asshole of a mayor. WV is so cheerfully oblivious because of the sheer happiness that this new variety of precipitation is bringing him after years of dry sandiness and the occasional storm.
You know that song from Scrubs? Guy Love? [link] That's how I picture the relationship between AR and WV. There is no "sharing" PM like she's a commodity, rather than a person--they all love each other in their own special ways, even if our culture has no real word for it, and together share the joys of life they are so cruelly denied in canon.
Oh, um, hm. Pardon me a moment, I am going to ramble.
[link] Here's the original line art. I got rid of the heart because I assumed it would be too heavy-handed, and people would more or less get the gist. After all, everyone's going to bring a different interpretation to the table, because everyone brings their personal views, and there's nothing I can do to control it but to be as specific as possible when I draw and make some hard decisions that may or may not be taken the right way. It's pretty much one of the first things you learn in editorial illustration.
Still, since this is DA, it does allow me to converse with all the great people who enjoy my art. So, for the sake of conversation, these were my original intentions while drawing: AR hates snow because it is cold and wet and uncomfortable and he seldom wears pants. He would rather be inside having hot cocoa and an oven-fresh ham. But despite the fact that he is a big baby about some things, he is dealing with it, for them, and WV is trying to encourage him to see the bright side and cheer him up because WV is Mr. Charisma, the mayor who cares about his people. PM is just happy to spend quality time with her boys, even if one of them is being surly, but that's not unusual for AR, so she isn't especially concerned.
I say all this because at first, I read your comment as implying that AR personally disagrees with a borderline shippy picture, or at least with the artist's interpretation of how their relationship would have been if he hadn't died horribly/WV didn't have a foot in the grave/PM wasn't going on an inter-dimensional manhunt. Which, as you may understand, seemed a bit odd. I'm sure you were referring to the opinion of the AR in the picture, which is why I went into detail and showed you the raw lines, but I wanted to be sure.
